Minister De Jonge zet staatssteun voor middenhuur op Europese agenda

Minister De Jonge pleitte de afgelopen maanden samen met Europese collega’s in Brussel voor staatssteun voor het bouwen van middenhuurwoningen. Op dit moment mag deze staatssteun alleen nog worden gegeven voor het bouwen van sociale huurwoningen door corporaties. De Europese Commissie heeft besloten eind juni 2024 een vergadering te organiseren met alle lidstaten over het uitbreiden van deze staatssteun naar middenhuur, zodat hiervoor meer woningen door corporaties én marktpartijen kunnen worden gebouwd. Circular economy: Council gives final approval to right-to-repair directive

The Council has today adopted a directive promoting the repair of broken or defective goods, also known as the right-to-repair (or R2R) directive. This legislation will make it easier for consumers to seek repair instead of replacement and repair services will become more accessible, transparent and attractive. How many hours per week do Europeans work?

In 2023, the actual weekly working hours for people aged 20-64 in their main job, in the EU, averaged 36.1 hours. A closer look at EU countries reveals notable differences. The longest working weeks were recorded in Greece (39.8 hours), Romania (39.5), Poland (39.3) and Bulgaria (39.0). 5 miljoen euro Europees geld voor klimaatbestendiger Tuindorp Oostzaan

Hevige regenval komt door klimaatverandering steeds vaker voor. In wijken met hoog grondwater, zoals Tuindorp Oostzaan, leidt dat tot grote problemen. Om de buurt beter bestand te maken tegen hevige regenval en de wijk leefbaarder te maken ontvangt het project 5 miljoen euro aan Europese subsidie. Relatieve woonlasten in Nederland hoger dan in meeste EU-landen

Nederlanders geven gemiddeld 23 procent van hun besteedbaar inkomen uit aan wonen Daarmee staat Nederland op de zesde plek van de Europese Unie. De huren waren in Nederland 2023 18,5 procent hoger dan in 2015. Met deze huurstijging staat Nederland in de Europese middenmoot. Moderate decline in asylum applications in the EU, but not for all Member States

In a trend that began in December 2023, EU+ countries continue to receive steadily decreasing numbers of asylum applications, though this is in line with winter expectations. However, the EUAA’s latest analyses show that the number of pending applications has now reached a 7-year high, just as lawmakers have approved a reform of the EU’s migration management framework.
