27% of young people lived in overcrowded homes in 2025
In 2025, 26.9% of young people aged 15-29 in the EU lived in overcrowded households. The overcrowding rate for young people was 10.1 percentage points higher than for the total population (16.8%). Among young people aged 15-29, the highest overcrowding rates were recorded in Romania (60.4%), Latvia (54.9%) and Bulgaria (52.8%). The lowest rates were in Cyprus (3.5%), Ireland (7.4%), Malta (7.7%) and Netherlands (8.6%).
